New Work for Praise You

‘Stella’s Strength’ by Pippa McManus
"I've learnt, finally, that crying makes me stronger. Holding everything in wears me down and makes it almost impossible to function. Stella's strength is in a powerful release, ready to move forward while still protecting herself (hand on shoulder, hat to hide under). The gold Rosie Assoulin earring represents the feminine body she is not consenting us to see.”

About Praise You

It’s a body of work with the power to make a difference. The artists have joined forces to educate, inform and challenge the accepted ideas of body image and comparison, by appreciating and empowering all elements of the female form through visual art, to increase awareness of the impact of body image in today’s society.  During the lead up to Praise You, an underlying theme amongst the artists was that many creative females are not only still learning to love their bodies, they also feel constantly challenged by society’s expectations to compare and compete both in their physical as well as creative selves. Praise You wants to shine the light on body image and comparison, shatter the old paradigms and create new positive and supportive ones.

Praise You is proud to support The Butterfly Foundation.
